MARCH SALMON ON THE RIVER WYE

When fishing and testing the Modualris Heavy Feeder rods it was apparant something special was happening on the river Wye.

The big Springers of yore have long gone,or so I had thought.

The lowish clear water conditions  though had enabled the fish that entered the river this year to be targettted

Big 3SW fish are agressive takers and the Wye bank and Courtfield beat was in the right place at the right time

Trying the fly is the way to go  in the faster water but flying C lures seem to be favourite

I tried the Metsuki Lures which resulted in these lovely well mended Kelts up to 36 inches in length

but alas no big springer for me

200m up the beat a 30lb fresh fish was landed while I played with the kelts and the beat has had 20 fish at an average of 20lb per fish….

Not bad for a washed up Salmon River

As I right this the river is rising again and its time for the 2SW fish

BRING IT ON  I SAY
